We Love Wool - Me, Myself and Lamberfeld

Hello, my friends!

It may seem weird that I start a post by speaking of something as inconsequential as the weather, but the truth is that Fall is here, and I couldn't be happier.

However, my being used to Barcelona's version of Fall misled me while packing, and the truth is that some shopping was due in order to compensate my lack of sweaters (and excess of frilly dresses, I'm afraid). I decided to take advantage of the huge Uniqlo shop near the Opéra, and indulged in a beautiful wine-coloured sweater, which I didn't fail to wear the very next day.

And as I was putting it on, I found this little guy:

The 47-year-old Woolmark sign has been around for quite a while, and 'Fashion by Feelings' is its new campaign, conceived to make people more aware of the advantages of wool as a natural and renewable fibre. Their website is absolutely amazing, designed to be as interactive and fun as possible, and it hosts a streetstyle contest which encourages people to post looks of them wearing wool garments, giving them the opportunity to win amazing prizes. Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

He thinks so, I daresay. ;)

What strikes me the most every time I visit their site is how interesting their browsing system is: looks are organized by 'feelings', and it's up to you whether you think yours qualifies rather as 'nostalgic' or as 'unique'. ;)

Anyway! I hope you liked this little feature, and do tell me if you've posted a look, I'd love to see it!

Have a great week! :)

Eden Park - An intern's tale

Hey there, my friends!

How have you all been doing this week? I'm afraid I have slightly neglected my duties to you as a blogger, but I have an excuse to offer you in return which involves my unveiling the why to Paris, that is the happy reason for my coming and staying here for a whole month.

And well, this reason is no other than my having the opportunity to intern for Eden Park, a french brand based on the enthralling world of rugby, and offering sport chic apparel with a wonderfully british feel throughout.

Here's a glimpse of the brand's lookbook from the past winter:

As you can see, everything's pretty relaxed and sporty, but with a college and preppy flair. So far I've been working in the woman's department and been able to witness the work of a wonderful team of designers. I'll be eternally grateful for this experience for it's just such an amazing way to learn the ways of the industry, how the whole process of conception, production and marketing of the products works, and whom it involves.

Imagine my delight when finding myself in Paris, spending whole days drawing garments with Illustrator, attending meetings concerning models' castings for next season's campaign shoots, and just having a whole lot of fun! :) I couldn't have foreseen anything better had I tried... ;)

So anyway! I hope you won't have minded my sprinkling this post with a couple of photos from Paris (I couldn't be more relieved to have left that strange and thankfully brief fit of photographer's block I suffered from a couple of weeks ago), as I'm afraid otherwise they'll keep on getting dusty in the ever increasing pile of photographic proof of my currently living in one of the most beautiful and romantic places there are.

Have a lovely Sunday!

Paris Diaries Vol. 3 - Magic

Hi there!!

I was just thinking that ever since I came here, everytime someone asks me how my Paris adventure is going and how I'm liking it all, I find myself saying that it is as though this magical city was sprinkled with fairy dust every night for us to marvel at in the morning... *-*

Place de la Madeleine

And in a way, it's true... Across every street, around every corner, a little something catches your eye. Something fun, pretty, unexpected or downright mysterious.

But for fairies to be able to work their magic, a little something is absolutely necessary:

51 Rue du Four

Have a great day, everyone! ;)

EDIT [23/09/2011]: I'm extremely flattered to announce that this post has been featured in the IFB Weekly Roundup:

LINKS À LA MODE: THE IFB WEEKLY ROUNDUP

WHAT’S OLD IS NEW… AGAIN.

Edited By: Jessica Thorpe

The saying, “what comes around, goes around” has been proven throughout the history of fashion.  Stylish peeps the world over have been stimulated by trends of decades passed time and time again. This weeks Links A La Mode is influenced by your interpretation of fashion fads and trends interpreted to suit our modern world.

The funky 70′s boho glam look is in full effect with flowing skirts, high waist lines and chunky platforms. Another trend making a loud avant garde blip on my radar is the classic ladylike look of the 50′s and 60′s. Women are embracing their curves and enhancing them with shape flattering silhouettes. Lastly, current fashion do’s that continue to inspire me are clever use of sheer, crochet, macrame and lace fabrics. And last but not least, retro accessories are back in a huge way; statement bangles, fanny packs and cat eye shades are loud on the fashion forefront.

Paris Diaries Vol. 2 - The Secret Garden

Bonjour, dear readers!

Yep, still in the lovely Paris. Actually, I'll be here 'til October the 8th, which means you've got a bunch of cool posts coming your way... :)

Today I wanted to unveil a very special spot I discovered by chance the other day. I was strolling around the wonderful neighbourhood of St. Germain des Près when all of a sudden I saw this sign:

... and found this little garden:

Children playing around, people enjoying the feel of the sun on their skin... Quite a charming place, is it not?

It was also a sort of jardin potager in a way, as there were all sorts of fruits and vegetables to be found!

Anyway! I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse of this wonderful city, and I promise to be back with much more soon now that I have some kind of a routine established...

Have a wonderful day! :)

Paris Diaries - Photographer's block and FNO

Hello there, my friends! ;)

Or should I say, mes amis! Faery's staying in the city of lights for a full month, 5 weeks that will be hopefully filled with fashion, beauty and magic...

The strange thing is, ever since I came here I've experience a sort of writer's block, except having to do with my taking pictures rather than my writing. Isn't it ironic that I should have the opportunity to live and work (Yes, work! This is a story for another time, though... It probably deserves a post of its own.) in such a beautiful place, and yet be completely uninspired and unable to capture it? It's been really frustrating... :S

But fortunately, the patient that is me is slowly mending, and I'll hopefully be fully recovered soon. :) Otherwise, my friends, you'll have to deal with a few very boring posts... For what is Faery without her pics? Imagine hearing me ramble on and on and on, with no cool pics to compensate... Kind of a scary notion, no? :D

Anyway! I'm losing my point here. So: FNO! Yes! As some of you might know (and if you don't it's your own fault for not following Faery on Facebook or Twitter, so don't blame me! ;) ), this year's Fashion's Night Out (or Vogue Fashion Night, as they like to say around here) was this week, and I was here in Paris to make the most of it!

Marni was the first stop, followed by many others. Most of the stores offered complimentary drinks, but there were also manicures in the new colours of the season at Chanel, very very very (very!) long lines, VIP parties, and even concerts! I tried to keep focused though, and try to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to take a look at the new collections, feel the fabrics... I must have been the only one. :D

There was celeb-sighting (of course!), and I actually got to see quite an amazing quartet of starlets! Natasha Poly, Anja Rubik, Isabeli Fontana and Emmanuelle Alt all together!

The only visual proofs of such an honour are the pics that follow, but I guess you'll have to appreciate them in their royal blurriness... :) I blame it entirely on two things, that will have to be my excuse: the first is the mass of what seemed like hundreds of people surrounding them (photographers and 'civilians' alike), and the 2nd... well, very obviously my perfectly advantageous height of no more and no less than 1'50m. ;)

Natasha looked preeettyyyy... :)

And Anya too, obviously! ;)

Here you have an extremely blurry Isabeli... :D hahaha
I guess you'll have to just believe me on this one. Well, you can see her dark hair, at least! ;)

Aaaand finally, half of Emmanuelle's face! Yay! :D

Okay, I think I've had enough of bad pictures for a long while. :) (You can take a look at this Vogue.fr article for better pictures of the event:  Les street looks de la Vogue Fashion Night). Fashion's biggest night was of course organized by Vogue Paris, and in order to get in the shops you had to have an invitation that came inside its September issue, with a beauutiful Charlotte Casiraghi on the cover.

Suffice to say, it was a fun night. :) I'm wide open to any home-cooked remedies for photographer's block that you can offer me!

Je vous embrasse très fort et à bientôt! ;)

EDIT (15/09/2011): Wow! Apparently this post made it to the IFB Weekly Round Up / Links à la Mode!! It was the first time I ever applied, so I'm extremely flattered... :) The rules say I have to include all the links, so here you have them:
