Christmas lights

Merry Christmas, my dear friends! :)



Over is the time of Christmas shopping, but we may still enjoy the pretty lights on the streets for a few days, and on will come the New Year, with a new set of obstacles to overcome, and hopefully a few joys as well!

I have extended the Alice in Wonderland giveaway's deadline for a few days, seeing as I do that there are no participants as of yet. I really do encourage you to go on and do so, for the stories were truly a joy to read, and a great source of inspiration as well. :)

DSLR Heaven - Barcelona in the Fall

Hi there!

I have a TERRIBLE cold, which means I'm sadly confined to my bed (or my sofa, technically)... which means I have an excuse not to be working, and I can freely blog for you guys. :)

A couple of weeks ago, and after being sick and tired of having 'technical camera problems' day in and day out, I decided to put to use my savings and buy myself a new camera, which was something I'd been planning to do for months.

And so I did! And even though our relationship didn't start smoothly, we finally understand each other PERFECTLY, and I am absolutely happy with it! It's a Canon EOS 1100D, and not only does it take amazing photos, it records great HD video as well... :D

I'm very excited because it's my first DSLR, and I feel like I'm gonna be able to play so much more with my photos! I'm able to really be in control, to decide which area I want to focus on, how the light should be... everything. Which I love!

Handy

Hi everyone!

I know I've been such a disaster as a blogger lately, but believe me when I say I had NEVER had this amount of work before... I finally understand what it's like to be good (as in: just working, not watching TV or going anywhere or doing any other leisure-centered activities) and yet still drown under the weight of the amount of patterns to do, garments to sew, prints to design, fabrics to dye and illustrations to draw. So I can only say one thing: Thank God it's awesome. :)

For today's post, I only wanted to show you a little thing that I thought was funny enough to deserve a post...

Do you remember this lovely photo of a hand that I posted here a couple of months ago?

Well, I was in Vienna at the time, and this hand belonged to one of the most striking and mouth-watering window display I've ever seen... *-* It might have to do with the store being closed and the streets empty, the minimalism of the display which only made the marvelous pieces stand out, or maybe just... that wooden hand. So my question is: was this simply a coincidence? Or were we the witnesses to the development of a tiny micro-trend? 

I, for instance, have no idea. Not that I need an answer. ;)

Changing Room

Hello, my dear friends!

Barcelona's fashion frenzy is only a few days away, and I just can't wait! :) But before that, I'd really like to tell you of an event that took place last July the 2nd here in Barcelona, and it's no other than the 10th edition of Changing Room. If you remember my post about Fitting Room, it's basically the same idea. 1 day, 1 hotel (this time, the Chic&Basic Born), 25 designers. Here you have a couple of pictures... ;)

Busy Busy Busy! - Summer in Barcelona: FITTING ROOM & THE BRANDERY

Hello, dears!! :)

Busy is a word that's being quite on my mind lately... But then there's stressful busy and good busy. There's even great busy! And that's the kind we all love the most, right? ;)

Which brings me to what I really want to share with you guys for this post: my beloved city's offers for this Summer, at least fashion-wise. Mid-July is definitely gonna be a good time to be in Barcelona, because 2 great events are gonna be happening at the same time: The Brandery and Fitting Room.

You guys must know about The Brandery already as I told you all about the last edition on my first post (see it here), but it seems that they're putting so much effort on bringing new things to each edition (which is great!), so even though not all the information is out, I'll quickly go over the things I'm looking forward to the most... ;)

First and foremost, the catwalk. It was the most relevant novelty of the last edition (and rightly so), so I really can't wait to see how it is this year. I hope Bel Air and American Vintage are among the brands from last time that will show their collections again, because they were my favourites by far.

This year's theme is "The Hot Spot", so I guess they'll try to emphasize how Fashion is at the center of an event that brings together Art & Design, Creativity & Business... Which is absolutely true! What I truly love about The Brandery is how it brings all sorts of cool people together, and how it is an amazing opportunity to see and experiment new things within the fashion industry.

I've also read that this year they've organized a New Talent's Contest for fashion designers studying in one of Barcelona's many design schools and graduating this year. Isn't that so great? :) I'm so excited, I think it's a great idea, and an amazing way of supporting and promoting the next generation in the fashion industry. I hear the prize will be not only the chance to show their collection at The Brandery Catwalk, but also an internship with a 'prestigious company from the fashion world'... 2 years from now, when it's my turn to graduate, I'll submit my entry for sure! ;)

The 2nd event I was speaking of is Fitting Room. I first heard of it when one of the blogs I follow, Crímenes de la Moda ( I love her DIY tutorials... *-*) mentioned it, and I immediately thought it sounded like such a cool event! The idea is that they take a hotel and dedicate 1 room for each of the designers, artists, etc. to make their own space and show their creations. And this 14th of July, The Brandery being their event partner, they'll be doing it at the B-Hotel in Barcelona, right at Plaça Espanya where the Fira de Barcelona is (and where The Brandery is going to be), using 2 floors from the hotel and 28 rooms in total... filled with fashion, jewelry, art and who knows!!

The brands that will be showing their newest ideas come from many different countries, including France, Germany, Venezuela and of course, Spain. It will be, in short, an amazing opportunity to see 28 different spaces creatively conceived to showcase the work of photographers, fashion/swimwear/accessories/jewelry designers and illustrators, among others...
